Congratulations Rock Lake Family:
Welcome to the 2008-2009 Rock Lake Elementary School Year. The students performed well on the end of the year assessments. Rock Lake is an “A” school once again. Thanks to our many volunteers and partners, we are a “5 Star School” award winner for 2007-2008. We applaud the students, teachers, parents, and community mentors who work so hard to help our students realize their academic goals. Our mission is “Academic Excellence for All!” We provide this brochure as a tool to promote a positive home- school connection. It is designed to acquaint you with the school’s programs, services, policies, and procedures. Please take time to read this letter thoroughly. Please contact the school if you need further clarification on programs, clubs and other services provided by the school. Our school motto is “We are In It To Win It.”
I would like to extend an invitation for you to:
• Visit your school
• Attend your child’s classes
• Participate in extracurricular programs
• Become an active member in the PTA,
SAC, and volunteer programs
Your assistance will allow us the opportunity to provide your child with a rewarding and enriching educational experience. On behalf of the faculty and staff, we are happy to have you and your child with us at Rock Lake Elementary School.
We challenge parents to increase your participation in the following areas: Parent Conferences, Report Card and FCAT Nights, Monthly Family Fun Nights, Monthly Fine Dining, Volunteering, Chaperoning, Reading the Weekly News Letter from the Principal, Monthly School Advisory Council (SAC), PTA ($5.00) and participate in PLC if English is your child’s second language. Please ensure that your child has school supplies, and that their Agenda is signed. Also supervising the completion of homework, and reading often to your child is very important to their academic success. Parents, please remember that we encourage our students to wear the school’s uniform. Our colors are White tops with Navy Blue bottoms. J.C. Penney, Sears, and Wal-Mart and Target all sell uniforms. We also accept donations for school uniforms, as we often have families who cannot afford them. Our school hours are 8:45 am - 3:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday school hours are 8:45 am – 2:00 pm. Students eating breakfast should report to school at 8:00 am. Please come and join us for, “Meet the Teacher,” Thursday, August 14, 2008. The hours are 4:00 pm-7:00 pm. Parents are also invited to our “First Days of School” celebrations which is August 18, 2008.
Lastly, we look forward to working with all of our mentor groups and partners in education organizations. Your future contributions to our school will help ensure the continued success of our students. Some of your contributions allowed us to give gifts to students who accomplished their FCAT goals. We offer our special thanks to the organizations and individuals that helped us achieve during the 2007-2008 school year.Sincerely,
Brenda J. Martin-Smith, Ed. D. Principal
